Dogs are the best. They show loyalty and unconditional love. Dogs always appear in love with their owners and all they really want is a scratch behind the ear. But, the truth is, in order for a dog to really behave it takes countless hours of training and patience. Not everyone has the time to train a dog properly. Of course, your dog is the best, the sweetest, and the most kind, but that is because your dog knows you. Your dog knows your habits and your nuances. It loves you because you give it food and water. It knows where you sleep and is used to your routine. What a dog doesn’t know is strangers. While you are walking your dog you can tell a stranger that it won’t bite, but you don’t ever really know. Your dog doesn’t know that stranger and that stranger may hurt you, their owner. If that is the case then your dog will go into defense mode and it will do whatever it cans to protect you. What your dog does is your responsibility.

Such is the instance of a dog and a child who was just looking for their ball. A ten-year-old boy was playing in his back yard when his ball bounced into the neighbor’s yard. The young boy then went to the neighbor’s house to get his ball back. The neighbor answered the door and let the young man in. The neighbor said that the dog was put away, but somehow the dog got out. The dog then attacked the young boy. When the boy arrived at the hospital he had serious injuries to his head, face, and ear. The boy will have to go through multiple surgeries as well as plastic surgeries to get him back to normal. So far the owner of the dog has done nothing to remedy the situation. The father of the child just wants the owners of the dog to take responsibility for their part in what happened.

Dogs are becoming more and more a part of our homes. We like to think that dogs are domesticated and willing to love everyone, but that just isn’t the truth. Dogs are animals and animals do not do things like a rational human. Dogs, despite their breed, if they are a bigger dog then they will have more of an intense bite than a smaller dog. If a child gets bit by a dog then they are more likely to suffer traumatic injuries to their face and upper body because they are still very short and easy to topple over, unlike an adult.

If you or a loved one have been attacked by a dog then you have the right to file suit for compensation for your injuries. The dog owner is responsible for their dog even when they unintentionally hurt someone.
