When it comes to loving our furry animals, Americans know how to do it best; well, some Americans. In this billion dollar industry, dogs are considered children to some families. However, not every dog owner covets their furry animals as others. Some use their pets as a form of protection and train them in such a way. It is good to have a pet to protect you, but there are certain ways in which the training must occur. Again, not all animal owners understand or know such training. Instead, they are left with wild animals that don’t understand commands and wreak havoc.

In Florida, if your dog has been in an incident then you must register them. If you have a dangerous breed you must register them and you must have notifications around your house that it is a dangerous place due to dangerous pets. Pit bulls are typically banned, but because dogs are mixed sometimes it is hard to tell. The purpose of notifying the public that you have a dangerous dog is to not only protect the public but also prevent people from getting hurt on your property. In the end, however, it is your responsibility if something happened to the dog.

Multiple Dog Attacks

Not every attack warrants a dog to be put down. Depending on the type of attack, the owner may have to pay fines and register the dog as dangerous. In the end, the dog owners have the responsibility of confining their dogs, using a leash, and providing the dog with food, water, and shelter. It is amazing how this does not happen as often as one would hope.

For example, there was a dog attack reported on a Saturday night around 10 pm. The man was walking through the neighborhood when the owners of two pit bulls were cleaning their cages letting the dogs roam around their back yard. The dogs sensed the walking man and proceeded to escape through a hole found under the fence. The dogs went straight for the man’s face. Bites, puncture wounds, and lacerations were found through his body, arms, and face. He was hospitalized in serious condition.

The dogs were taken by the Animal Care and Adoption Center which is when it was discovered that this home address was home to multiple dog attacks. Police are unsure if the dogs were the same as the previous incident a year ago.

What To Do

If you were injured in a dog attack and you were not trespassing on a person’s property then you may have a strong case of getting compensation for your injuries. Owners have strictly liable for their dogs’ behavior whether they were aware or witness to the incident or not.
